Translational research applies the knowledge of disease biology to identify and evaluate therapeutics in disease models, with a view to selecting potential candidates to advance into clinical trials (termed “bench to bedside”). Clinical trials study the safety, efficacy, and dosage regimens of therapeutic interventions in human participants selected according to predetermined eligibility criteria, who are observed for pre-defined evidence of favorable and unfavorable effects.
